Nolan Kelly (North Okanagan Knights) and Kaden Slobodian and Levi Hall (Fernie Ghostriders) have been selected the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Feb. 25/24.
Kelly – Top Forward – The Calgary, Alta product had three goals and three assists in two games to help the Knights take a 2-0 series lead against the Osoyoos Coyotes. In Game 2, Kelly opened the scoring and assisted on the 4-2 goal in their 5-4 win. In Game 2, Kelly collected two goals and two assists in their 5-1 win, assisting on the winning goal by Devin Jameson in the third period. He had a plus-four rating. As of Monday night action, Kelly leads all KIJHL players in playoff points with eight in three games. He had 34 points in 38 regular season games.
Slobodian – Top Defenceman – The Brandon, Man., product scored three goals in two games for the Ghostriders, who split the first two games of their series with the Creston Valley Thunder Cats. In Game 1, Slobodian scored twice to force the game into overtime, losing 3-2. In Game 2, Slobodian scored the insurance goal in a 2-0 Ghostriders win. Slobodian finished with a plus-one rating in the two games. In 44 regular season games, Slobodian had eight goals and 22 points.
Hall – Top Goalie – The Stony Plain, Alta., product saved 93 of 96 shots, including 51 in a 2-0 win against the Thunder Cats to help split the series at 1-1. His shutout performance included saving 28 first-period shots. Hall has a .969 save percentage and a 1.35 goals against average in the two games. Hall was named the KIJHL’s Top Goalie on Jan. 21.
