GAME 5 IS FRIDAY IN FERNIE @ 7:00

After a long gruelling season the playoffs are finally underway and after two games the Ghostriders find themselves tied at one with the Creston Thunder Cats. The Riders  lost 3-2 in game one when T-Cat Tyson Tokarz scored late in the first overtime, but in game two Levi Hall shutout Creston 2-0. The series resumes in Creston on Tuesday and Wednesday, game times are 7:30.

Notes From Under the Bleachers Where They Keep the Suds

So far the Creston series has been about the goaltenders. Both Levi Hall and CVT’s Dario Cantini have made big stops on several grade A chances… Hall was especially good on Saturday with his first ever KIJHL playoff shutout…Great pass from Coden Fournier in game two to set Taylor Haggerty in on a breakaway giving the Riders a 1-0 lead…D- man Kaden Slobodian scored the only two Rider goals in game one to get the game to overtime then he scored the second goal in song… I mean game, two…whoo hoo…anyway… Haggerty’s goal  was the game winner …both teams had a goal called back because of a high stick…I hate to say it but the Chakrabarti brothers are something to watch, especially on the PP…which is what the Riders will need to do to win this series, so far so good, they only have 1G 1A between them…starting to notice Malachai Peigan on the blueline more and more lately, he’s doin all right  gettin good grades…turn off that classic rock station you idiot… A little animosity sneaking into this series as expected…makes things way more interesting…like in Kimberley when after the Rockies scored in overtime one of the Nitros crosschecked a Rocky in the head when the team was skating over to congratulate the player who scored…he got 3 games and the Rockies coach got a game too…probably because he was angry about a non hockey play when the game was over.

Round’ the League

The aforementioned Rockies are up 2-0 on Kimberley, the last game in Kimberley saw the CVR win 1-0. Kimberley is hosting and they have a buy, so 2-0 ain’t really unexpected and the Rockies are not a pushover. Beaver Valley is up 2-0 on Castlegar and that’s expected the same goes for Revelstoke 2-0 on Chase and Princeton 2-0 on Kelowna… Grand Forks and Nelson are 1-1, not surprised, Kamloops and Sicamous are 1-1, also not surprised. North Oak is up 2-0 on Osoyoos but for me that was a pickum.
