Haggerty, Hughes & Kuchaslo named KIJHL 3 Stars

 

 

Taylor Haggerty (Fernie Ghostriders), Nicholas Hughes (Kimberley Dynamiters) and Jozef Kuchaslo (Revelstoke Grizzlies) have been selected as the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Nov. 5.

Haggerty- Top Forward- The Sherwood Park, Alberta product netted a hat-trick and added two assists to help the Ghostriders defeat the Kelowna Chiefs 7-1 on Nov. 4. Haggerty netted the winner to give the Ghostriders a 2-0 lead on the power-play. He added his third goal late in the first period, then collected two assists in the second period. Haggerty leads the Ghostriders with 10 goals and 17 points in 13 games.

Hughes – Top Defenceman – The Calgary, Alberta product collected four assists in two games to help the Dynamiters pick up a pair of wins against the Kelowna Chiefs and Creston Valley Thunder Cats. Hughes assisted on the opening goal, then the winner on the power-play against Kelowna. Against the Thunder Cats, Hughes assisted on the final two goals that gave the Dynamiters a 5-0 lead. It’s the second time that Hughes has been named the Top Defenceman, his first came on Oct. 3. Hughes has 12 points in 11 games.

Kuchalso – Top Goaltender – The Mission, B.C. product picked up a pair of wins for the Grizzlies over the Chase Heat and Kamloops Storm. Kuchaslo stopped all 23 shots he faced in a 7-0 win over the Heat, then earned his second straight shutout with a 32-save performance against the Storm in a 6-0 decision. Kuchaslo has now won five straight games and improved his record to 7-3-0 in 10 games with a 1.20 goals against average and a .953 save percentage with five shutouts.
