Cameron Oien (Spokane Braves), Eric Martin (Fernie Ghostriders) and Josh Hager (North Okanagan Knights) have been selected the Hudl Instat Kootenay International Junior Hockey League 3 Stars of the Week for the period ending Dec.31/23.
Oien- Top Forward – The Spokane, Wash., product had a goal and five assists to help the Braves earn a 7-4 win over Castlegar, then battle in a hard-fought 8-7 loss to Grand Forks. Against Castlegar, Oien had a goal and two assists, then against Grand Forks, he assisted on three of the Braves’ final four goals. Oien is fourth on the Braves with 21 points in 23 games and part of a three-way tie for a team-leading 13 goals.
Martin- Top Defenceman – The Edmonton, Alta., product helped the Ghostriders win both their Christmas Classic games against the Kimberley Dynamiters by scoring three goals and adding an assist. In their 5-1 win on Dec. 29, Martin scored a hat-trick, including a short-handed goal giving them a 3-1 lead. In their 2-1 over-time win on Dec. 30, Martin assisted on the winning goal. Martin, who joined the Ghostriders from the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, has 14 points in 11 games. He leads the Ghostriders blueline with 1.27 points per game since joining the team in November.
Hager- Top Goalie- The Calgary, Alta., product stopped 30 shots to help the Knights defeat the Summerland Steam 4-0. Hager turned aside 23 shots in the final two periods. In 12 games, Hager has three wins with a .935 save percentage and a 2.41 goals against average.
