Ghostriders This Week February 11/24

After a couple of games that went from bad to worse in Beaver Valley and Nelson the Ghostriders rebounded with a 5-3 road win in Creston and a hard fought 4-3 win at home against the Grand Forks Border Bruins.

Notes From Under the Bleachers… where they keep the suds

With 1080 fans at the game Saturday…they had to go under the bleachers a few times, according to all the plastic cups I was tripping over… After the weekend all we know is that the Rockies will finish in third and the Riders will play either them or the T-Cats in the first round… it starts on Friday the  23rd in Fernie according to the Governors at the AGM… For the record the Creston PxP crew were actively cheering for Grand Forks to beat the Nitros Friday…they want to play Fernie in the 1st round… motivation…for all three teams…Everyone pretty much hated the schedule this season, goin up and down passes and ricocheting around the province… but a home and home against Kimberley for first place in the last two games of the season was insightful… Kimbo fans should know that means it was kinda planned…Great to see Hudson Scrimshaw (2G-1A)  Riley Enns (2G 2A) and Coden Fournier  (1G 1A) including the game winner Saturday, having pretty good weekends…Levi Hall was the difference stopping 22 of 24 third period GF shots Saturday and Nick Kunyk has a 17-2 record after a W in Creston…Jack Lambert was on the bench this weekend as an inspiration (Kimbo fans are gonna need a dictionary to understand this week’s stuff )…Lambert is skating and is probable for the first round of the P/O’s…but star D man Eric Martin is not expected back… Dayton Collier’s 2nd period goal in Creston was the GW, his first GW of the year…With a G and 3A on the weekend Taylor Haggerty has 61 points and is 3rd in KIJHL scoring, last season he had 41 pts…actually most of last season’s players have more points…two more games left …then we’ll talk…the power play hasn’t exactly been a bright spot this year and sits at 16.2% but scored a couple of goals on the weekend…interestingly those are Grand Forks #’s as well…Castlegar is 7.7%…Kimberley 23.1…The Riders play in the Eddie Mountain division…did you know Eddie was Fernie’s GM back in the old RMJHL days and won the KIJHL, Cyclone and Keystone with the Rockies… Eddie was old school, Coach “I wants a thug” … K you got em…actually had a few in those days…and finally when the playoffs start tickets will go on sale in the arena at 5:45 on game days…I was told several times by the Guardian of the gate Rose to mention that…

Round’ The League

Beaver Valley, Princeton and Revelstoke have clinched first in their divisions…TBD is the Eddie Mountain division and who will finish 1st overall… 100 Mile and Chase 25 pts each are fighting for the last PO spot…

Ethan MacDuff has 4 G 1A in his last 4 games with the Southern Maine Huskies…it takes a while for freshmen to get their coach’s trust…cause we all know the way coaches are.
Games
