The Ghostriders lost both games on the October 3-4 weekend, 5-3 at home to Sicamous and 3-2 in a shootout on the road in Beaver Valley.
Spin Class…
The Ghostriders have 15 rookies and only 2- 20-year old players. They are a lot younger than your typical Rider team so there will be a learning curve…but there’s still room for more 20-year-old seasoned players.
The Riders have a 1-3-1 record so far, oddly enough they have outshot their opposition in every game except the game they won 4-2 against Creston when the shots were 35 each. Also, a puck off the glass behind the goal and in off the goalie’s back in Kamloops cost them at least a point and a chance for two.
They do a lot of things right but just can’t finish their many grade A chances… all that being said, they still only have 3 points after 5 games.

We are hearing that Sawyer Samycia is skating and could be ready this weekend
Sicamous 5 @ Fernie 3 Game Summary
Several fights in this game much to the delight of the fans in the beer section. Like it or not, sometimes things just happen when you pit a bunch of testosterone fuelled teenagers against each other… T- fuelled, those were the days.
Anyway, I like how the players stick up for each other…and they got a point on the road the next night against Beaver Valley who are one of the top scoring teams in the league… games like that are team builders.

Back to reality now…The Eagles got up 2-1 in the first and held the lead all game. Kellen Hale (Piper), Liam Breakenridge (Piper-Walker) and Carter Chown ( Klemick- Watkins) scored the Rider goals. The difference was… the Eagles went 3-5 and Fernie was 0-5 on the power play. Click on the summary for all the gory details.
Former Rider Braeden Jack had 1G 1A and numerous options for a Gordie Howe hat-trick.
There were 687 fans at the game but only one referee in what would be termed a difficult to officiate game. The refs still can’t do both the BCHL and KIJHL games. Most readers know what I think about that petty Hockey BC decision.
