The Ghostriders, despite what one disgruntled ranting fan thinks, got 5 of a possible 6 points this week. The Riders shutout Creston 2-0, lost 4-3 to Beaver Valley in overtime then won 5-3 in Golden against the Rockets who are fighting (literally) for their playoff lives.

Defenceman Eric Martin had 5 assists in the three games and with 52 points in 39 games (and counting) has broken a Ghostrider points by a D man record formerly held by Team Captain TY Morton who had 48 points in 30 games, followed closely by Marty Wicks with 35 in 24, in 2011-12, Will Verner was the HC and GM.

Taylor Haggerty being spied on by Lucas De La Salle…how the hell does he score all them goals

In an interview with the KIJHL media Eric Martin said he has been working on his two way game. It has been noticeable, his defensive game has been better and the points are still piling up so it’s no surprise that he’s had some offers to play at the college level next year, but he hasn’t decided on his future. Martin “Yeah I have a few [offers] but I haven’t decided yet what my plans are. I’ve started to narrow it down and have told a few schools no”.

Taylor Haggerty racked up 6 goals and 3 assists in his last 4 games and with 58 points is 3rd in KIJHL scoring. He is 4th in goals scored with 27, and could catch 1st place GFBB Levi Astill with 31. Both those players will also be getting offers.

Stephen Jones

Easton Zenko scored his first as a Rider against the Hawks then had an assist in Golden and has become a steady presence on the blueline as has Garrett Buchanan who I notice more and more each game. Both were deadline acquisitions. And isn’t Stephen Jones a battler

First in Class…well it rhymes with class

As the Beaver Valley players were leaving the ice at the end of the game, one of their players was simulating what he was going to do when he got home to his favourite porn site. The crowd in that area featured a few teenagers but mostly a bunch of elementary kids, some mothers, and a rather pleasant security lady

Even more cheap shots and a fight in this game.

Ben Skarsen and Taylor Haggerty (GWG) each with 2G 2A, Garrett Buchanan scored the first goal and Eric Martin 2A. Cooper Anderson had his 9th win in net. Some PIM’s in the 3rd

Round’ The League

Dale Hladun or Duner (a former Rider GM & HC 2013-14) has resurfaced in Nelson after leaving Quesnel because he wouldn’t sign a certain kid.

After losing their President Mike Johnstone and Kathleen Zubick the Castlegar Rebels parted ways with Coach Nick Headrick then hired Alex Evin as their Coach to finish the season.

The Ghostriders play in Princeton and Osoyoos next weekend, you can watch the games on Flo Hockey with a subscription or at the Fernie Legion !
