The Fernie Ghostriders, in partnership with Diverse Family Roots, proudly announces the upcoming Autism Acceptance Game to be held at the Fernie Memorial Arena on Saturday February 22nd. The game aims to promote autism acceptance and inclusivity in the community.
The Ghostriders played two games this weekend, they lost 5-1 in Princeton then won 8-2 in Osoyoos. The Riders have three games left, they host Golden on Tuesday, play in Invermere on Friday, then finish the season here in Fernie on Saturday February 22nd against Creston.

Not much to say here, the Riders were out shot 34-24 and Ben Skarsen (7 pts in his last 4 games) scored the only goal.

The Riders scored 3 in the first and 5 in the second for the win. Big night for Lucas Desjarlais who had 3 goals and an assist. Desjarlais was just back from a 1 game suspension for fighting, WCDM Rule 43, the, if we don’t stop all this fighting, we’ll have to put in more seats rule. Eric Martin had 4 assists (54 pts) and Taylor Haggerty 2 goals (28-29th). Nick Kunyk was in net for his first game back after serving a 6 game suspension for punching a Kimberley player a few weeks ago.
Two other 8-2 results…the first was Gage Johnson’s fight in Princeton when his opponent 8-2 knuckle sandwiches …but Watterson battled back with a couple of his own and it was an entertaining match, meanwhile, in Fernie, I 8-2 Big Mac’s for supper…it was surprisingly easy.
Taylor Haggerty was one of the KIJHL’s 3 Stars of the Week read all about it here

Round’ The League
The Ghostriders have clinched second place, but with (58 pts) they could still mathematically get ahead of Kimberley (63 pts) for first place.
Kimberley, who could have clinched first, and still had a chance to finish first overall, choked in Kelowna and lost 6-5. Kimberley still has two games left against Creston Friday and Golden Saturday and could finish first in our division. Fernie has three games left and need to win them.
Two of the Riders next three games are against Golden (33pts.) and Creston with (35pts) who are both fighting for the final playoff spot so could be very interesting.
Princeton (68 pts) play their final game in Merritt, they are in the mix to finish first overall in the KIJHL along with Revelstoke 66 with 2 home games left vs Kelowna and Merritt but Grand Forks (66pts) has three games left, two vs BV and one vs Castlegar.
And finally, the Riders and Kimberley will have home ice in the first round of the playoffs but who will they will play.
