Johnston, Sinclair & Fleet named Instat KIJHL February 3 Stars

 

Matthew Johnston (North Okanagan Knights), Scott Sinclair (Fernie Ghostriders) and Matt Fleet (Kimberley Dynamiters) have been selected as the Instat KIJHL 3 Stars of the Month for February.

Johnston – Top Forward – The Salmon Arm product had eight goals and nine assists in seven games for the Knights. He helped the Knights defeat Kelowna 4-1 on Feb. 3 with a two-goal performance, and edged Princeton 3-1 on Feb. 11 with a goal. In their five-game series win against Osoyoos in the first round of the Teck Cup championships, Johnston had five goals, including two short-handed, and nine assists for 14 points. Johnston also scored two insurance goals. In Games 2-4, Johnston had five goals and 11 points.

Sinclair – Top Defenceman – The Fort McMurray product had three goals and eight assists in 10 games. In their six-game series win over Columbia Valley in the first round, Sinclair had five points in six games, including a two-assist game on Feb. 20. In that game, Sinclair assisted on the 2-2 goal and the winner. He scored the winning goal in the clinching game on Feb. 25. It’s the second straight month that Sinclair has been named the Top Defenceman.

Fleet – Top Goalie – The Calgary product won two of the final three February regular season games with a 2.62 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. In their first round series win against Golden, Fleet had a 29-save shutout and a 1.57 GAA with a .942 SP. Fleet stopped 131 of 139 shots in the series.
