Ghostrider Spring Camp

The Fernie Ghostriders just finished their three day Spring Evaluation Camp on Sunday April 6th. The Camp featured four teams, 75 players, and was as coordinated as any camp I’ve seen.

A few of the parents, players and hockey consultant Carlos that I talked to also commented on how smoothly the camp was run both on and off the ice. “It was almost like they’d done it before.”

HC/GM Chad Scharff

First off I’d like to thank all the players and their families for the entire weekend. Their efforts and time invested doesn’t go unnoticed by our staff.

I’m very happy with the competitiveness of our camp. The talent pool was outstanding. Credit to all the players who attended.

Looking into next season we are excited for the future of the Ghostriders and look forward to continue to build for seasons to come.

Thank you to the Ghostriders players both current and alumni that came out to help make this camp a huge success.

Assistant C/GM Dante Raposo

I think it was a great start for us going into the 25/26 season, we really appreciate everybody who came out to compete. Very happy with the talent level at camp, makes me very very eager to get next season going & start working with the guys & continuing to build what we put the foundation for this season. Hope everybody enjoyed their time & felt like they had a good experience.

I would also like to thank the returning players who came to help out as well as the 20 year olds that were here helping. It was really awesome to spend time with them & have them donate their time to helping guys that will potentially be going through the same experiences as them in the near future. It means a lot that they would be willing to do that!

In other news:  Grand Forks defeated Kimberley 4-1 and Revelstoke defeated 100 Mile 4-1. Grand Forks with 71 pts will have home ice against the defending KIJHL Champs from Revelstoke (69 pts) in the Teck Cup Final starting Tuesday.

Rider Captain Taylor Haggerty will be playing in the ACHA at Drury University. Taylor was a great Ghostrider and we wish him all the best at the next level.

And FinallyGeorge Majic was one of the founding fathers of the Fernie Ghostriders and was our first ever President. George and Anne’s granddaughter is a star figure skater and their son Xavier played for several pro teams in Canada, the US and in Europe.
