Fernie Ghostrider 2026 AGM Results

The Fernie Ghostriders Hockey Club held their Annual General Meeting on Thursday May 28th.

Here are a few hi-lights from the meeting.

First and foremost, the team earned approximately $62,000, which is significantly better than last year, when the Ghostriders lost roughly the same amount.

More playoff games, some different fund raising, 50/50 and new advertising sponsors are a few of the reasons why the team actually made money last season.

However, things are about to change. After 51 years the KIJHL is gone (possibly forever) and they are calling themselves the The Jr A British Columbia Hockey Conference . The new BCHC leaders are also applying to join the CJHL, that would theoretically put them on par with the AJHL, SJHL MJHL etc.

Fernie’s travel costs to play in the BCHC will be quite a bit higher . Because Creston, Golden and six other teams left the KIJHL and formed their own league, The WIJHL, the Riders will be traveling over the Salmo- Creston and or the Rogers Pass most weekends to get to their games.

If the BCHC gets into the CJHL it would also mean they could compete for the Centennial Cup… that tournament was in Prince Edward Island this year. You will need a university calculus major to figure out how to pay for that trip.

The BCHC will play a 50 instead of a 44 game schedule but will not play against  the PIJHL Jr A teams until the playoffs.
