The Fernie Ghostriders played three exhibition games and won all of them, 2-1 against Kimberley, 4-2 vs the Columbia Valley Rockies then won 7-2 in Columbia Valley.
The Team will travel to Grand Forks on Friday, play in Beaver Valley on Saturday then play in Nelson on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 our time.
The Forks went 1-3 in the exhibition season with three one game suspensions, so no change, they were second in PIM last year and are always hard to play against.
The Nitehawks went 2-1 to start the pre season and scored the most goals last season with 208.
Nelson didn’t make the playoffs last year, but have the nicest arena in the league.
In other news the Ghostriders named Liam Breakenridge as their Captain and Sawyer Samycia and Kellen Hale as their full time Assistant Captains. Garrett Buchanan will wear an A at home and Stephen Jones wears it on the road.
Head Coach Chad Scharff
“Heading into the inaugural season of the BCHC, I’m incredibly excited about the opportunity in front of our organization. I’ve really enjoyed watching this group come together over the past three weeks. The players returned with a strong commitment to improving, learning, and working through every obstacle as a team”.
“As a staff, we’ve been very pleased with the chemistry and camaraderie they have already shown both on and off the ice. We understand this is only the beginning of a long journey, but there is a great deal to look forward to with this group. We have an important week of practice ahead of us before we hit the ground running with three road games in three nights to open the season”.
